SMITH is proud to present its first group show, ‘Current’ - an opportunity to showcase a carefully selected group of artists who will be exhibiting at SMITH in the upcoming months.

The show will comprise a selection of work from local artists including Rosie Mudge, Marsi van de Heuvel, David Brits, Julia Merrett, Jeanne Gaigher and Dale Lawrence to name a few.The exhibition will include photography, printmaking, drawing and painting.

SMITH curator Amy Ellenbogen on the exhibition, ‘Current is, in essence the first time we can combine and showcase all the types of work and artists who will be working under the SMITH umbrella in the future. To see such variation in style and medium amongst the artists within the gallery is exciting and allows for us to foster new ideas and dreams for the space. We look at Cape Town as site specific - how have the currents of the past created our present reality? Saltwater, patterns of waves and bodies of water all shape and transform our worlds.’

Located at the city’s inner heart, SMITH, owned and managed by inspired photographer Candace Marshall-Smith and curator Amy Ellenbogen, is situated at 56 Church Street, part of the pedestrian-friendly zone of this artery now so synonymous with art, antiques and culture.

The group show 'Current' will run from 06 May 2015 until 27 May 2015.
