SMITH presents its summer show, Salad, a selection of works celebrating its busiest year to date, covering seven solo shows, five group shows and three major fairs.

The exhibition includes contributions from 28 artists, including choice pieces from all seven of the artists who staged solo shows at the gallery in 2017.

Selected works from the SMITH-curated concept show Shall We Move On by creative collective Hoick - which won a special projects booth at this year’s FNB Joburg Art Fair - will also be on show.

SMITH looks back at a year that included prominent appearances at the Cape Town Art Fair, the FNB Joburg Art Fair and, most recently, the AKAA Art & Design Fair in Paris.

“Salad is a collection of works we have admired throughout year. This is a snapshot of where these artists are in their careers. SMITH has had an incredible year with many of our artists opening their second solo exhibitions. As a young gallery it is exciting to watch artists grow and evolve with us,” says Gallery Director Candace Marshall-Smith.

A handful of contributing artists gathered at the gallery before the show for a round table conversation at which each artist asked - and was asked - one question. The transcript Asked & Answered will be available at the gallery throughout the exhibition.

Salad is on show from 14 December 2017 - 20 January 2018. To request a transcript of Asked & Answered, for exclusive interview requests and all other press enquiries, please contact
